Common (mal)practices in the CV service sector
Most industries include a mix of the good, the bad and the unscrupulous.
Alas, unlike many sectors, the CV industry has far more than its share of the bad and the unscrupulous.
Why is this so?
Unfortunately, it boils down to the fact that the bad and unscrupulous firms can (and do) get away with it.
How do they do this?
For various reasons;
- Their marketing gimmicks and “claims” not only sound appealing to potential clients, but they appear more appealing still when they are reinforced with scams, suspect statistics and persuasive salespeople.
- Lots of prospective clients view prices as ‘costs’ so opt for cheaper and inferior alternatives rather than do what the people who get to the top of the career ladder do, which is to identify the difference between a false economy and a real investment.
- Most people don’t really understand the difference between typical professional CVs and genuinely exceptional ones. Indeed, most people falsely think that just because they have paid for their ‘professional’ then it must be as good as it gets.
Of course, nothing can be further from the truth! As with any service sector industry, the quality of CVs differ greatly depending on which firm you opt for. The reality is that most “professional” CVs can not only be improved, but in the hands of genuine top writers they can be dramatically improved!We are different Common CV Scams
