PS Tip 96: Other personal statements

I’ve covered many of the most commonly requested personal statements now, but it’s worth noting that there are literally thousands of different types, formats and sizes. And whether you’re applying for a philosophy course, a position at the circus, or a director-level position at a blue-chip company, you may well be asked to write one.

Whatever format it might take, the tips I’ve covered so far will be relevant – You simply need to get as much information about what the employer or educational institution is looking for, and match your skills, achievements and experience to them as closely as you possibly can.

If you’re really unsure, it never hurts to speak to someone directly about the position you’re applying for – You may even get insights that other candidates don’t have access to, simply for making the effort.
