What to Look for in a CV Company – Continued

Service Levels

From time to time I hear reports from clients about their unhappy experiences with other companies. I have heard many such reports over the years, and reports relating to substandard quality come as no real surprise to me anymore. What is more surprising is some CV companies don’t even meet what I would class as even basic service standards. For example, some clients report that after they ordered the firm in question took days to reply, or wouldn’t return calls to acknowledge the order. As someone who has always striven to put clients first, I find this bewildering. I can understand that not all CV writers have the ability to produce quality products (you can’t affect natural writing talent), but for the life of me I don’t see how ignoring customer satisfaction is okay. That should be a basic prerequisite for any company.

Strength of Feedback

Customer feedback is one way to gauge company quality. Not every CV company has a testimonials web page (some for obvious reasons). Moreover, not all testimonials are that convincing (especially those which don’t include full client names and location), so beware of that. However, the best companies have quality testimonials which include full client names and locations. It’s up to you what you believe, but personally I’m always wary of companies who just put initials on testimonials. The reason for this is that I know from experience that if you offer a top quality service then clients will be more than happy to sing your praises and be happy to be cited (no arm twisting or Chinese burns required).
