UCAS statement FAQs

What part of the UCAS application do people require help with?

Most people are happy to fill in the application form themselves, and have no problem with that, but many applicants find the personal statement part of the application particularly difficult. If this applies to you then you are not alone, and many professional people (not just students) struggle with creating a standout personal statement. This is something we can help you with.

What does the service entail?

Effectively, it involves examining your current personal statement and making improvements (usually dramatic improvements).

What kind of improvements can you make?

We tend to go far beyond just general improvements such as fixing spelling and grammatical errors. While each case is different, we do find that most clients who come to us have statements that can be improved on pretty much every front. For example, a great many statements that clients send to us come across as very standard, average and mundane. It is all well and good if you just want to say the same as everyone else. However, university places are competitive, and if you want to improve your chances of a good university place then the stronger your statement the better. It’s about helping you stand out – and in a good way. Amongst other things we work on improving the style and flow of the wording as well as the structure and the format of your statement. Part of this involves improving standard entries that crop up time and again in run-of-the-mill statements, and reworking them in more relevant and proactive terms. That’s part of the nitty-gritty, but we also work in more global terms too, reworking your statement holistically to give it better balance and greater appeal. Notably, we can also optimise your statement for your target course. This is something that can (and often does) boost your odds.

Are there any other statement writing services?

Yes, some companies do provide this service, and we have extensive experience of not only improving DIY personal statements, but also of improving statements written by other professional writing companies.

Are you one of those companies who just fill in blanks on a template?

No, we are most certainly not one of those companies!
On the contrary, all our statements and 100% bespoke and original and written with you, your own circumstances and your target course in mind.

Are you one of those companies who just recycle statements?

No, we don’t do that either.

Notably, if you do use one of those companies who does that then you risk falling foul of UCAS and their plagiarism checking software.

As mentioned, our statements are bespoke and original and written by highly creative writers.
We are not one of those firms who just regurgitate them.

Do I need to write a draft of my statement myself?

Yes, we don’t just write statements on behalf of candidates without any input from the candidates themselves. What we do is take what they have written and make improvements on various fronts to help them better present their case.
If you would like our help then in the first instance we would ask you for your own original draft. Don’t worry if you think it is substandard or very average – we are used to that!

Any questions?

If you have any other questions or queries please do not hesitate to ask us.
