Potential Pitfalls of Cover Letter Writing

There are numerous potential pitfalls when it comes to cover letter writing. The obvious ones include spelling and grammatical errors, but beyond that many jobseekers make a variety of mistakes including underestimating presentation, making their covering letter too complex, getting the length wrong, disrupting the balance, not complementing the CV, not considering the employer enough, making it too generic, ignoring relevancy, writing the cover letter as a substitute for their CV … and much more besides.

All in all, writing a good cover letter is a lot harder than most people think.
