Length, Format and Balance

How long does a CV have to be?

The longer your CV is the less the likelihood it will get read. Well-presented one page CVs are the most enticing of all to read, but the trade-off is that they are the hardest of all to write. If you don’t think your writing skills will allow you to refine your CV down to one page, then at least aim for a maximum of two pages.

Format and balance

Format is also important, and your CV should be well-presented, and proportioned to look like a neatly framed picture. Balance is also significant, so your CV should not be too one-dimensional. And if one section of your CV is overwhelmingly hogging the limelight, then this is an indication that your balance needs tweaking.
